YELLOW COAT’S NEW WRITERS COURSE
Want to start writing for stage but don’t know where to begin?
Have an idea for a monologue but not sure what to do next?
Are you a performer or director (or any sort of creative!) who wants to get into writing?
Yellow Coat’s New Writers Course is for you!
Join the team from Yellow Coat for our four week course that will introduce you to the basics of monologue writing, looking specifically at character, place, theme and events. Over the course we will look at different ways of finding structure, how to find inspiration and translating that into creative writing, as well as creating autobiographical work.
The course will be a mix of in-person sessions, at-home tasks between groups and 121 feedback with Yellow Coat’s Artistic Director, Caron Kehoe.
By taking part in this course, you will have the opportunity to showcase your monologue at Pass It On as part of Yellow Coat’s Takeover event at LowMAC (currently The Glitch).
When: Sundays in September 10am-12.30pm

This opportunity is open to creatives from marginalised genders. This includes women, female-identifying and non-binary people.
Please note: the events space doesn’t have step-free access due to being a basement space with no lift facilities. The space is down a flight of 15 stairs with a solid handrail.

Join us at Yellow Coat to kick off the new year with a workshop that cultivates your creativity and storytelling skills.
The first part of the workshop will focus on exploring different starting points for your monologue, including character, place, theme and events. The second part will include time for participants to share their work (not compulsory!) and get feedback from the group. This can be the work you created in the workshop, or another monologue you have been working on.

Celebrate International Women’s Day with Yellow Coat with this workshop that examines and celebrates womanhood in all its glory.
The first part of the workshop will include different writing tasks that explore womanhood; both our own experiences of it and communal themes that comes up. The second part will include time for participants to share their work (not compulsory!) and get feedback from the group. This can be the work you created in the workshop, or another monologue you have been working on.

Join Yellow Coat for this workshop to explore different ways to create dynamic and high-impact storytelling through short form theatre.
The first part of the workshop will examine how to structure a monologue, looking at different approaches and the reasoning for each approach. The second part will include time for participants to share their work (not compulsory!) and get feedback from the group. This can be the work you created in the workshop, or another monologue you have been working on.

Join Yellow Coat in this workshop that begins to explore the art of “writing what you know” and creating work from your own lived experience.
The first part of the workshop will challenge participants to mine their own experiences for stories they wish to share, and through guided exercises, find a safe and respectful way to bring these stories to the stage. The second part will include time for participants to share their work (not compulsory!) and get feedback from the group. This can be the work you created in the workshop, or another monologue you have been working on.
